Grand Strand Area Transportation Study
This study is being conducted by Wilbur Smith Associates under the direction of the Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments. This is a continuation of the first long range transportation plan adopted in 1976. This plan must be updated every 5 years with a 25 year planning horizon.
This plan studies the traffic needs of the area bounded by the North Carolina state line, Waccamaw River, US 701 and the cities of Conway and Georgetown. This plan is necessary in order to obtain federal transportation funds.
The plan will determine existing transportation problems and determine future needs and cost estimates.
The study is requesting community involvement through two surveys that are available on their web site www.gsats.org (click on "Surveys)". Since future projects will be ranked according to priorities, it is IMPORTANT that everyone go to the web site and complete the survey form(s) if we expect our area to be properly prioritized.
Complete the survey now and urge your neighbors to do the same.
The survey must be completed by April 1, 2010
